"Chianti hills all around"26 October 2016
an amazing location in the hills of Chianti, with easy access to Florence and Siena, complemented by great food and the charming Tuscan ambience of the property, definitely worth a return as a basis for more exploration of the Tuscan countryside. Green Features: strong focus on environmentally sustainable property and area management
"Absolutely wonderful and top service!"21 October 2016
We visited Tuscany in October and stayed at Castello del Nero for 4 days. We brought our 5-year old daughter. The property is top stars, the service and guest attention was tremendous. They assisted us ahead of our stay with a full itinerary of winery visits, day trips to Siena, and a cooking class at a local restaurant.
The location is excellent for our liking as it's away from all the crowds. Great proximity to Florence, Siena, and Chianti wine region.
Just a truly awesome experience and when we come back to Tuscany we will be for sure staying at this hotel.
"Tuscan heaven"07 October 2016
This place is stunning, fantastic location, beautiful...
The reception on arrival is wonderful, all staff were so welcoming. Spa and restaurant managers came to welcome us with hot towels and a welcome prosecco followed by a tour of the facility. Our room wasn't ready for our early arrival so we were welcomed to the terrace bar for some drinks and lunch. The view is to die for from here, it really is a slice of heaven on earth.
The reception desk promptly called the restaurant a little while later to let us know that our room was ready, amazing service!
Room was large, nice view over one of the courtyard, beautiful bathroom, and great turn down service; little notes left for you, slippers put out by the bed, night light plugged in in the bathroom, little bag of sweeties or chocolate left on the bed as well as water and glasses on each night stand.
The food is gorgeous - absolutely beautiful, speedy service, excellent staff who actually remembered us each time we came down for breakfast lunch or dinner.
The pool is absolutely fantastic - warmed to perfection, plenty of grass and beds and chairs, staff come out to provide towels, put the beds up or down, and put the umbrella up if you like.
The spa is also amazing - I had the best deep tissue massage, and before our treatments the spa ladies welcomed us to wet spa, gave us all the spa amenities, and provided refreshments as well. I would totally recommend a treatment here if you can!
We never wanted to leave this place: I would recommend it to anyone... My favourite place
"Beautiful Setting and Excellent Staff"August 2016
My husband and I stayed at Castello del Nero during our wedding week. The property is beautifully restored, maintaining its original charm while also including modern features like air conditioning. Plus, it comes complete with a view of the valley. In addition to the impressive surroundings, the food was also excellent. We enjoyed the standout breakfast each morning, as well as great dinners at La Taverna and La Torre. But the staff is what really made our stay special. From Patrick the bellman's friendly greeting and Giulia/Manuela's planning suggestions in the front office, to Tiziano's assistance with restaurant reservations and Ilaria's help at the front desk, everyone was professional and hospitable. In fact, they went above and beyond, covering our bed with silk rose petals on our wedding night, and returning the tie my husband wore during the ceremony (which we'd accidentally left with our driver.) We've been fortunate to stay at some great properties, but Castello del Nero was certainly one of the most memorable!
"Unforgettable experience all around!"August 2016
A great hotel in a gorgeous setting! Excellent service and top-notch facilities. Very convenient location close to Siena and Florence and multiple delightful smaller towns to visit near by. The staff was very accommodating and helpful with suggestions for sightseeing, restaurants, wineries and reservations. Our kids loved the pool. We had a duplex room that was very spacious and perfect for a family. We enjoyed our stay at Castello del Nero immensely, the best 3 days of our almost 2 week Italy vacation. A true 5 star property. Hope to be back one day!
"Breathtaking Beauty Abounds"August 2016
If I could give this hotel 6 stars I would do it! From the very moment we checked in until we checked out every part of this hotel experience was exquisite. I have stayed in many 5-Star properties, but none can hold a candle to the subtle ways this hotel and staff surprise and delight. The rooms, the views, the spa and the restaurants were only surpassed by the service. The décor is incredibly elegant; old world charm meets sophisticated and modern conveniences. The Spa is beautiful and well appointed. The pool overlooks the vineyards and has plenty of areas to lounge and enjoy a beverage. There are two restaurants allowing a choice between an elegant meal to a more casual menu. Both are delightful. The hotel is also well situated between Florence and Siena. Plenty do, or not do, depending on your interests.
"Fantastic Stay"July 19, 2016
We are a family of three with an 8 year old kid and stayed in a suite for four nights. The location of the hotel is good, not too far from Florence and Siena (definitely not in the middle of no where). The room is spacious with a stunning view. Staff are friendly and the concierge service is superb. They are very responsive to our enquiries through emails before we arrived. They arranged excellent day tours for us, have lots of good suggestions of where to eat and go. We particularly appreciate their making of dinner reservations for us. We basically got the tables with the best views wherever we go and can tell that's because of their service. We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel and will definitely visit again in future.
"Best of Italy!!"July 12, 2016
Castello del Nero is exquisite. If you want to have a memorable experience visiting the Tuscany region this is one top choice. From our beautiful suite to the wonderful La Torre restaurant (congratulations to the Executive Chef and team of the 1 Michelin Star restaurant) to the incredible staff with attention to detail and excellent service, to the pool and one of the best spas - each of these made our stay perfect. Do not forget to visit Florence, Siena and the most beautiful small village of all: San Gimignano while you are there and there is so much more to do...just ask Alberto the Concierge!
"Delightful Tuscan hotel"July 3, 2016
We stayed for 5 nights at this superb hotel beautifully located in the Tuscan countryside. All the staff were first class and we had a lovely room. It was the small touches that really made the difference: a uk power adaptor provided, night light put in the bathroom at night, fresh fruit basket replenished daily etc. Breakfast was excellent on the terrace. Also a great location between Florence and Siena.
"Most Beautiful Place - Perfect Experience"June 21, 2016
Our stay at Castello del Nero far exceeded our expectations! We are frequent travelers and have recently spent 3 1/2 weeks in Europe. This was, by far, the most outstanding of all of our accommodations. The views from this property are breathtaking. The rooms are perfect. The food is amazing. The pool is lovely. The service is phenomenal - from the staff at the front desk to the ladies who cleaned our room. The spa was wonderful - one of the best massages I have ever had. We absolutely loved our stay here! I would definitely return and would recommend Castello del Nero to anyone!
"Woww hotel, beautiful, luxury, just amazing"June 15, 2016
The hotel is just really beautiful , located in the heart pf Tuscany and only 30 minutes from Florence. Spa is just perfect. Service was amazing. Rooms are designed great and really luxury and comfortable. Great breakfast and really good dinner options. Wish i have stayed more nights.
"Always the best in Chianti"June 5, 2016
We have been coming here for years, and a last minute change in itinerary brought us back to Castello del Nero. Greeted like old friends from the minute we arrived! The main dining room boasts a Michelin Star and its richly deserved! The more casual dining is now in its own room down by the pool, featuring Tuscan cuisine with the chefs One Star touch as well. Great rooms, great new hiking paths for causal or experienced hikers now all on property! Oh, and the rooms! We've experienced every part of the property, and every room is a joy! We'll be back again soon!
"Amazing hotel!"May 31, 2016
We visited this hotel for one night for a family wedding. WOW! Beautiful hotel in gorgeous chianti countryside. The setting is idyllic. Was very lucky to see many of the rooms and they were all beautiful. My family stayed in a split level suite which was huge. It was all in the detail; little slippers, kids dressing gown and goodies for the children. We were all well looked after by the hotel staff and enjoyed a lovely breakfast on the terrace. On checking in the man at reception said that one night wasnt enough- he was truly right! We will definately be returning to this gorgeous hotel
"A piece of heaven"May 2016
This hotel is quite beautiful. The rooms are very comfortable, the stuff is helpful and delightful. The view is amazing.
We are world travelers who like to stay in the most upscale places and we would highly recommend this hotel
"Elegance & Excellence!!!"May 2016
Our stay at Castello del Nero was simply wonderful.
The hotel itself is a stunning building set in beautiful and extensive grounds, made all the better by the easy to follow hiking routes that are provided at reception. These vary in difficulty and offer an excellent opportunity to stroll through vineyards, past rustic buildings and generally take in the beautiful scenery - a great way to spend an afternoon.
The interior of the hotel is stunning. We were lucky enough to have a room with painted fresco's. It was breathtaking - like being in a some kind of Disney movie!
The spa is excellent, with fantastic wet facilities, friendly staff, and a great variety of treatments available.
Dining was superb, breakfasts were large and varied, the Bar area offered a great and simple lunch menu full of Tuscan specialties, and La Torre, the hotels Michelin starred restaurant is a an experience not to be missed.
Most special of all however is the hotel staff and the service that is offered both prior to, and during your stay.
The hotel was excellent in making arrangements for us in advance of our stay - winery tours, restaurant bookings, a a truly incredible Truffling experience (highly recommended!). This ease of making preparations was a totally stress free experience and much appreciated.
The staff and service is to be commended. Highly professional, yet also very engaging and friendly. It is evident that the entire team take great pride in the standard of service that they deliver, and strive to make your stay an enjoyable and memorable one.
We will definitely be returning in the future. I would urge anyone considering visiting Castello del Nero to go right ahead and treat yourself to what will be a truly wonderful experience.
"Just amazing. First class!"May 2016
The most wonderfull experience. We have stayed in many 5*, leading hotels around the globe this hotel tops every single one. It is a paradise. The one thing to make a top class hotel is its staff. In this hotel they make you feel, and they mean it, very welcome and at home. The hotel has beautifull rooms, exceptional Spa facilities with an outside pool, a Michelin chef, wine cellar bar and and and. Then you have the staff who greet you professionally, friendly and with respect! We had wonderfull breakfasts and the most exquisite dinner. Just a great experience. Well done to ALL the hotel employees from the cleaning ladies, concierge, reception, cooks, waitresses/waiters......A highly recommended location also for Company events.
"One of the best places I ever stayed"May 2016
The place is in the country side of Tavarnelle in beautiful Tuscany. Spa was amazing the Michelin stared restaurant was exquisite the room was simply stunning Make sure you hire a car so you go around the little villages around. I must say the staff are really Professional and well presented. It shows thee were trained to their teeth Well done to the management!!! Will be back. By the way. La Torre restaurant was the best meal I had in Tuscany by far. Well done to the chef Giovanni and the restaurant manager Tiziano.
"A perfect moment"April 2016
Words can't describe how stunning this hotel is. From the moment you turn off the motorway stunning views envelope you for all around. Pulling up to the Hotel you already know you have made the right decision, this is the reiterated when you are greeted by the team, nothing is too much trouble. One of the Spa team comes up with a hot towel and advice on treatments. We were then shown round the hotel although I had trouble concentrating on anything other than the breathtaking views, rolling Tuscan hills folding into vineyards with the sun dipping down behind. So beautiful and timeless, I felt I may never need move again!
Our room was another delight, with Champagne already in place in honor of our anniversary, more stunning views greeted us through every window! I couldn't wait to sink into the marble bath and listen to the birds singing outside the window.
I decided to spoil myself in the Spa with a two hr treatment and wow was it worth it! The team were kind, helpful and hugely professional. You need to go early so as to experience the clever and relaxing build up with rain showers, steam rooms overlooking the hills and treatment pool - definitely worth the visit even if you don't have a treatment.
After watching the sun set on the terrace, we chose to eat in the tavern, there is a Michelin star restaurant as well, it was cozy warm and with very tasty food.
The only bad thing about this visit was having to leave, I wish we could have stayed for a week, or possibly forever.
