Enjoy the best of Tuscany from our charming hotel
The Marquis Carlo Torrigiani estate was one of the largest in Tuscany, today guests have 740 acres of the most beautiful Chianti countryside to explore.
There are miles of paths meandering across the estate, through vineyards, olive groves, around lakes and through woods. The gardens are delightful, at the front is the ornate Italian Gardens shaded by a 400 year old Lebanon cedar, on the north side of the castello is the romantic Marquise Promenade, a path made through ancient cypress trees for the lady to enjoy shaded access to the forest. As far as the eye can see is Chianti countryside filled with wineries and the beauty of nature.
Guests can walk to the nearby village of Tavarnelle Val di Pesa and drive to small hill towns in the area in minutes, like Badia a Passignano where the Abbey has a 17th century fresco of the last supper, very rare for its early exploration of perspective.
Then for morning excursions the historic towns of Tuscany are all within easy striking distance, some by bike, others by Vespa, FIAT 500 or limousine. Each town has their own distinct charm.
Florence and Siena are the stars with their magnificent Duomos and the greatest collection of Renaissance art, while the much visited medieval walled town of San Gimignano is only 20 minutes away.
