Castello del Nero has two stone cellars which are part of the original 12th century castle, each a deeply atmospheric space to enjoy wine pairings and extra virgin olive oil tastings. These experiences have been devised by our sommelier.
The ancient Etruscans tended their vineyards in this region around 2,500 years ago and Chianti is one of the oldest wines in the world. The wine tastings begin with the history of one of our renowned producers perhaps Brunello of Montalcino, Chianti Classico or the rich bodied and prestigious Super Tuscan wines. Then follows a pleasurable hour with Tuscan hams and pecorino cheese paired with tastings of the topic in hand.
Tastings are conducted over a convivial one and half hours in the afternoon. Private events can also be arranged tackling any wine subject you are especially interested in exploring.
